London neighbourhood projects could land cash from Bank of America

Three days left to apply for grants totalling £235,000

Charities and individuals working on community projects in London have three days left to apply for grants from the the Bank of America.

Its Neighbourhood Excellence Initiative is offering two grants of £110,000 to charities in the capital working on projects to improve their neighbourhoods. The winners will receive the cash in unrestricted grant funding over two years.

The NEI programme was established in the US in 2004 and is in its fourth year in London.

The bank is also offering five grants of £3,000 to individuals in its Neighborhood Builders and Local Heroes programme. The winners will be able to direct the money to a charity of their choice.

Applications are due by 1 June 2010 and must be submitted online.

The winners, to be chosen by a local selection committee comprising private, public and charitable sector leaders, will be announced in the autumn.
