Louise Parkes joins Shelter as fundraising director

Housing charity appoints Help the Aged's head of fundraising

Housing charity Shelter has appointed Louise Parkes, head of fundraising at Help the Aged, as its new fundraising director.

She will replace Alan Gosschalk, who leaves after nine years at the charity.

Parkes previously worked at the Cancer Research Campaign, which merged with the Imperial Cancer Research Fund to form Cancer Research UK in 2002, and the National Deaf Children's Society.

She said she was excited to be offered what she described as a "unique opportunity at a time when housing is such a huge issue".

Ed Jordan, director of income and enterprise at Shelter, said: "Louise's appointment will ensure the effective running of the fundraising team is maintained during these challenging times. She will help deliver Shelter's goal of everyone in Britain having a home."
