Male victims denied voice at conference

A charity supporting male victims of female domestic violence is protesting at its exclusion from a national conference to influence Government policy.

The conference on 10 October is run by support services organisation, Capita. It invited Lex Wright, south-east co-ordinator at the Mankind Initiative, to speak but weeks later told her not to come.

"I am angry because we saw this invite as a real coup," said Wright. "We were told that the conference's criteria didn't suit the ethos of Mankind. Now the conference will only cover half the story."

Suzi Bacon, a Capita producer said: "Changes were made to the event after discussion with other speakers. We felt the topic was better suited to a separate occasion."
