Marriage Care to get helpline services from Parentline Plus

Twenty-four hour telephone support line will be provided for the Catholic relationship support charity's beneficiaries

Parentline Plus is to provide helpline services for Marriage Care from September.

Uner the partnership between the family support charities, Parentline Plus will provide a 24-hour telephone support service for Marriage Care’s beneficiaries that will replace the latter’s volunteer-run service, which had limited opening hours.

In a joint statement, Jeremy Todd, chief executive of Parentline Plus, and Terry Prendergast, chief executive of Marriage Care, said: "This is an important step forward for both organisations as we seek to extend our relationship support to families."

As well as extending the availability of telephone support to its beneficiaries, Marriage Care intends to move its helpline volunteers into face-to-face work as a result of the partnership.

The effectiveness of the partnership between the two charities will be reviewed after one year.
