Media unit sets up web directory

Indira Das-Gupta

The Voluntary Action Media Unit has launched an interactive media directory to encourage charities to share their experiences of dealing with the media.

The service will work in the same way as the online encyclopaedia Wikipedia.

Users can search for information about different media outlets and add their own tips or make changes.

So far the directory has 30 entries, covering magazines, newspapers, radio and television, but the unit hopes that it will soon attract more.

Director Penelope Gibbs said the directory would be monitored to ensure it includes only constructive comments. "It's in the sector's interest to share information because everybody will gain knowledge," she said.
