Merger comes to Meningitis Cymru

The Meningitis Trust has merged with Meningitis Cymru, the only meningitis organisation in Wales.

The merger is the first time two UK meningitis charities have joined forces in this way and will enable the Meningitis Trust to maintain staff and counsellors throughout Wales.

Liz Gibbs-Murray, one of the co-founders of Meningitis Cymru, described the merger as a "win-win situation for all those involved", but especially for those people who are afflicted with the disease.

Gibbs-Murray said: "In today's economic times, it is a good idea for charities working in similar fields to pull their resources, knowledge and expertise together so they can be more successful."

The merger will provide a wide assortment of support services, such as a 24-hour nurse-led helpline.
