Merger for learning disabilities charities

Learning disabilities charities Norwood and Hope Charity are to merge.

Norwood, which supports children and adults with learning disabilities and social difficulties, will take over the running of Hope Charity, an organisation for children with special educational needs.

However, Hope Charity will retain its own identity and will continue to operate from its own centre in Willesden Green in north-west London.

No redundancies are expected. Hope’s trustees will join various Norwood committees.

Norma Brier, chief executive of Norwood, said: "Bringing Hope into the Norwood family will greatly enhance the existing work of both of our organisations within the field of special education and allow us to increase the range of specialist services available to children with special educational needs."
