Midlands merger of CVSs approved

Stakeholders have approved the merger of six local infrastructure organisations in Warwickshire.

Warwick District, North Warwickshire, Nuneaton & Bedworth, Rugby and Stratford councils for voluntary service and Rugby Volunteer Centre voted unanimously to merge last week.

The merger will create a county-wide organisation, expected to be known as Warwickshire Community and Voluntary Action, which will launch in April (Third Sector, 18 July).

Stephen Nightingale, chief officer at Warwick District CVS, said the infrastructure organisations now needed to work out the funding position with local government.

"If we don't get the funds, we will have to cut our cloth accordingly," he said.
