Mitchell to run comms at Age Concern England

Michelle Mitchell replaced Neil Churchill as communications director at Age Concern England yesterday (Monday).

Mitchell joined the charity five years ago as head of public affairs. Earlier this year she was promoted to communications deputy director in recognition of her work in developing corporate priorities and managing external communications.

Gordon Lishman, director general of Age Concern England, said: “We are delighted to announce Michelle’s appointment to communications director.

“She has worked very hard during the past five years to raise the profile of the issues facing older people in the UK today, and has been very successful. She is a tremendous asset to Age Concern.”

Mitchell, said: “I am looking forward to a new challenge and building on the communications division’s successes. In doing so, we will be focusing on what matters most to older people, beginning with reform of care services and its funding as our immediate priority.”

Neil Churchill left to become chief executive of Asthma UK.
