David Ainsworth's round-up of what's happening in the finance world.

The Charity Finance Directors' Group annual risk conference will take place on 18 November at the Royal College of Surgeons in London. The conference will look at how to create a secure foundation for charities during the recession. Plenary speakers include Barbara Frost, chief executive of WaterAid, who will talk about inspiring support in a recession.

A toolkit to help third sector organisations form consortia to bid for public sector contracts has been released by social enterprise iSE. Created with support from the Office of the Third Sector, it is free to charities and social enterprises.

Community transport organisations can apply for a share of a new £1m loan and grant fund. The Social Enterprise Rural Community Transport Development Fund will offer three-year investment packages to eight organisations around England to help them build up contract income and reduce reliance on grant funding. The Community Transport Association will administer the scheme and provide training and support to applicants. For more information, email info@ctauk.
