The Social Enterprise Coalition is coordinating an event called It's Time to Meet Your Local Social Enterprise, which takes place on Social Enterprise Day, 18 November, to tie in with Global Entrepreneurship Week. Social enterprises are urged to seek meetings with decision-makers in their communities. A guide on how to maximise the profile of social enterprise is available at www.socialenterprise.org.uk.

Two conferences on social investment are to take place in London: the Impact Investing Forum on 30 November and 1 December, run by the events company Hanson Wade, and Good Deals 2010 on 15 and 16 November, which is being run by Society Media.

Lord Patten's written question, answered in the House of Lords last week, came after a campaign by sector legal experts for the expansion of tax relief to cover a wider range of donations to charity.
