- The Association of Charity Independent Examiners will hold its Scottish conference in Perth on 29 October. The conference will provide an overview of the financial situation for small charities in Scotland. Speakers include Fiona Gordon, chief executive of the ACIE.

- A free business consultancy event for social enterprises in northern Scotland will be held on 8 October in Dunkeld, near Perth. At the event, coordinated by social enterprise support charity Firstport and Scottish Business in the Community, volunteers from PricewaterhouseCoopers will provide advice to social enterprises. - A new survey is being launched by the Charity Finance Directors' Group and Agenda Consulting to help benchmark the effectiveness of charities' finance functions. Charities are being asked to fill out a questionnaire on the main activities carried out in their finance departments. For more information, visit

- The Ethical Investment Research Service is holding a free seminar on environmentally responsible investment.

The seminar is on 17 November at the Wellcome Conference Centre in London. It will outline how to invest in green initiatives such as wind farms and avoid environmentally damaging industries. For information, contact Sam Collin on 020 7840 5738.
