Money matters

David Ainsworth's round-up of what's happening in the finance world.

- The Charity Finance Directors' Group is holding an investment conference for charities on 24 September. The conference is being run in partnership with Baring Asset Management and Rensburg Sheppards, and will be held at the Rensburg Sheppards offices at 2 Gresham Street, London. Keynote speakers are economist Roger Bootle, of Capital Economics, and James Montier, chief global equity strategist at Societe Generale.

- The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator is seeking the views of charities on the effectiveness of the Scottish charity register. It wants comments on questions such as whether the current level of information it provides is adequate.

- A British social enterprise has raised EUR3.1m (£2.6m) in a private share issue in Belgium, which will allow it to expand its services into France, Germany and the Netherlands. The Ethical Property Company, which rents out offices to charities and social enterprises, said it had attracted large numbers of ethical investors. It said it might carry out a larger ethical share issue in 2011.
