Movers: Chris Simpkins, director general, Royal British Legion

Chris Simpkins has been appointed director general at the Royal British Legion.

Simpkins has been chief executive of the Falkland Islands government and head of the Falkland Islands civil service for the past four years. Before this, he was chief executive of South Holland District Council in Lincolnshire for 14 years. Simpkins will be the first permanent director general at the charity who has not served in the armed forces. He will become the legion's fourth director general in the past nine months.

Frances Done will continue as interim director general until Simpkins takes up the role in October. Done took over from David Wills last December.
