Checksfield joins the national crime prevention charity from the Ministry of Justice, the government department responsible for the courts, prisons, probation and criminal law, where she led a new prisons building programme and an emergency taskforce to manage pressures on the prison population.

"Crime Concern projects provide positive activities that support young people back into training, education or work," says Checksfield. "But there is still a great deal more to do and we need to make a much stronger commitment to prevention as a powerful strategy to reduce crime."
