Powell joins the national disability charity after holding the position of chief executive on an interim basis for the past three months.

He was previously chief executive of social care charity Independent Age for five years. Before that, Powell spent 11 years with the Royal British Legion as a fundraiser, event organiser and field manager. From 1997 to 2001, he worked as its head of operations and development.

"Vitalise is poised for growth," said Powell. "We will work to ensure that we continue to deliver top quality services to disabled people and carers, and we are determined to get better at what we do."
