Movers: Lord Michael Jay of Ewelme, chair, Merlin

Lord Michael Jay of Ewelme has taken on the role of chair of Merlin, the medical relief and healthcare charity for victims of natural disasters and conflict.

Jay has worked as a diplomat for the Foreign Office and was the Prime Minister's personal representative at the 2005 G8 summit. More recently, he has taught in a voluntary capacity in Zambia and managed Britain's aid programme in India. Jay succeeds Sir George Cox, who served as chair for six years.
