Movers: Quentin Summerfield, chief research adviser, Deafness Research UK

Professor Quentin Summerfield has joined Deafness Research UK as chief research adviser.

He joins from the psychology department at the University of York. Summerfield was formerly deputy director of the Medical Research Council's Institute for Hearing Research in Nottingham. He led the national evaluation of cochlear implants, known as 'bionic ears', for profoundly deaf people, which led to the devices becoming available on the NHS.
