Heaton joins Shape, the arts charity for disabled and deaf people, from Dorset charity Holton Lee, a residential centre for disabled people and carers that has an exhibition and gallery space and dedicated artists.

He spent 11 years as director of the centre, which is also the home of the National Disability Arts Collection and Archive.

"I'm very excited to be joining Shape and I'm looking forward to leading it through its next set of challenges and opportunities," said Heaton. "I hope my experience will drive Shape to provide even more innovative and relevant services to disabled and deaf artists, audiences and participants."
