Donna Cresswell has been appointed director of communication at the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Cresswell joins from beer-making company Carlsberg UK, where she was head of communications for six years and oversaw the development of its UK communications strategy. She previously spent three years as regional marketing manager at the RSPB.

"These are exciting times to be joining the MND Association," said Cresswell.

"I look forward to building on the association's success in championing the case of people living with MND. Our vision is to free the world of the disease, and we have ambitious plans to raise the profile of the association."

Martin McCann has been appointed chief executive of disaster relief charity RedR-IHE. He joins from international development agency Plan International, where he held the joint roles of programme director and deputy international executive director.

Laura Pattison has been promoted to head of marketing at Jeans for Genes, the charity that raises funds for research into inherited conditions in children. She was previously deputy head of marketing at the charity for four years.

Celia Joseph has joined childcare charity the Daycare Trust as events and marketing officer. Joseph previously worked for One Parent Families as head of communications; before that she was events officer at the NSPCC.

Suzanne Jackson has taken on the role of head of individual giving at development charity Farm-Africa. She previously spent two and a half years at Sense as direct marketing manager, before which she worked in Cancer Research UK's direct marketing team.

Ted Hill
is the new director of Hillingdon Association of Voluntary Services. He joins after three years as chief executive of Barnet Citizens Advice Bureau. Before that he was chief executive of Mind in Barnet.

Louise Aimes-Hill has joined the Disabilities Trust as fundraising officer. She was formerly press, marketing and development co-ordinator for the English National Opera.

James Collins has taken on the newly created role of quality and accreditation manager at Volunteering England. He will spend two days a week on secondment to the Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network. Collins joined Volunteering England in 2005 as regional development officer for the West Midlands and spent the first half of 2006 on secondment to the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games.

Peter Gibson has been made media and campaigns manager for training and education charity Rathbone. He joins from environmental campaigning organisation Encams, where he was head of communications.

Tim Sigsworth has been appointed chief executive of the Albert Kennedy Trust, the charity for homeless lesbian and gay teenagers. He joins after five years at the Lesbian and Gay Foundation in Manchester, where he was director of operations and latterly director of fundraising and business development.
