NCVO on mission to explain sector

The NCVO has announced plans to run a series of discussion events to help the public better understand the voluntary sector and its contribution to society.

The commitment is made in the umbrella body's new strategic agenda for the next five to ten years, published tomorrow.

As part of a public education programme, it will also work in schools and universities to "increase the understanding of younger people of the role, value and purpose of engaging in voluntary action".

The strategic agenda follows a large membership consultation the organisation undertook in February this year, seeking views on the challenges the sector faces over the next ten years.

The umbrella body will also unveil a new logo and strapline,"Giving voice and support to voluntary and community organisations".
