NCVO prepares toolkit for infrastructure organisations

Umbrella body wants to improve effectiveness

The NCVO is planning to launch a new toolkit to help infrastructure bodies improve their effectiveness early next year.

The umbrella body will introduce the Common Outcomes Framework for Infrastructure in 2010. The toolkit will be based on a redevelopment of its existing Perform Framework, which helps infrastructure organisations to plan and review the work they do.

"We want to foster a more outcomes-related, customer-focused approach to infrastructure planning," said a spokesman for the programme.

He added: "For the first time, hundreds of infrastructure agencies will have at their fingertips robust, comparative data about their own achievements; and the ability to compare these with other agencies, and learn more about what works."

Data from the programme will be used to draw up a best practice guide for infrastructure bodies when they launch policy programmes.

The framework, launched in partnership with Triangle Consulting and the Third Sector Research Centre, is part of a £700,000 England-wide programme to help infrastructure organisations improve their impact, funded by the Big Lottery Fund.
