NCVO wins government contract to run funding website

Funding Central will contain details of 4,000 grants and contracts

The NCVO will run a new website listing thousands of grants and contracting opportunities, the Office of the Third Sector is expected to confirm today.

The site, to be called Funding Central, will include details of 4,000 grants and contracts from local authorities, the Government and the EU.

The OTS will announce today that the umbrella body has won the three-year contract to run the site. A spokesman for the OTS declined to reveal how much the contract was worth.

Charities can enter details of their size, locality and type of work on the site, which will produce details of the funding they are eligible to apply for. It is likely to be extended to include other sources of funding.

Third Sector revealed that the NCVO was expected to win the contract earlier this year.

In February last year, the OTS announced that it would end its £260,000 grant to the Directory of Social Change to run its site.

Ben Wittenberg, director of policy and research at the DSC, said it intended to continue running the site and improving its content.
