New Capacitybuilders funding

Capacitybuilders has announced £18m in funding for its Improving Reach scheme, designed to boost support for voluntary organisations working with disadvantaged and marginalised communities in England.

The programme, part of the infrastructure support body’s ChangeUp programme, is aimed at providing support to organisations, such as ethnic minority groups, refugee and migrant organisations, faith groups and isolated rural communities, that tend to miss out on existing Capacitybuilders programmes.

The funding, provided by the Office of the Third Sector, will allow Capacitybuilders to offer 100 organisations grants of up to £150,000 a year for three years, beginning next April. It builds on an £11m pilot programme, which was launched last August and runs until March.

Applications must be made by 28 January and must be submitted through the Capacitybuilders website. The site contains a list of eligibility guidelines. By the end of the week, it will also contain details of a series of briefing events to be held across England throughout November and December. Competition for the grants is expected to be high.
