New chief named for Diana Fund

The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund has named Dr Astrid Honeyman as its next chief executive.

Honeyman will take over when the current chief, Dr Andrew Purkis, steps down after seven years on 3 October. She is currently director of policy at the Aga Khan Foundation, the UK development agency for Asia and east Africa.

Before that she spent two years as a programme development specialist with the Netherlands-based disadvantaged children's trust the Bernard van Leer Foundation. She had previously been director of the HIV/Aids charity Inter-Country Peoples' Aid in Zimbabwe.

A spokeswoman for the Diana Fund said Honeyman's skill in implementing policy made her an ideal candidate for the role.
