New columnists in the magazine

John Knight, head of external policy at disability charity Leonard Cheshire and a trenchant commentator on voluntary sector affairs, is to be one of two new columnists for Third Sector from next week.

He will be joined by author and journalist Nick Seddon, who caused a stir among larger charities in particular with his recent book Who Cares?, published by think tank Civitas.

Knight and Seddon will take over from Baroness Julia Neuberger, who has completed a year as Third Sector’s main columnist, and Nick Cater, who will switch to new roles including a series of extended interviews. Neuberger will also continue writing for Third Sector, particularly on volunteering.

Stephen Cook, editor of Third Sector, said Neuberger and Cater had made a huge contribution to the interest and readability of the magazine. He said Knight and Seddon were high-calibre writers with a wide knowledge of the sector: “Both have sceptical minds and are not afraid to ask difficult questions.”
