New fund launched for community relations projects

A £750,000 fund has been launched for community projects that work to improve relations between different ethnic and religious groups.

The Barrow Cadbury Trust fund will typically provide voluntary and community projects with grants worth £30,000 over a two-year period.

Funding will be offered to projects that promote solidarity between people of different ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds.

Sukhvinder Kaur-Stubbs, chief executive of the Barrow Cadbury Trust, said: Some of the poorest parts of Britain are also the most ethnically diverse. As a charitable foundation, we need to help local communities join forces to tackle poverty and inequality, rather than compete over limited resources.
