New insurance cover targets aid staff

A financial services firm specialising in products for overseas charities has launched a new insurance policy that includes provision for hijacking, kidnap and work within war zones.

Banner Financial Services says the offering is flexible enough to meet the exact requirements of humanitarian and aid workers. The standard benefits include £5m medical and evacuation cover, up to £500,000 personal accident cover and 24-hour access to multilingual medical assistance.

"People working overseas deserve this protection," said Robin Williams, director of Banner. "It extends to many countries that wouldn't usually be covered by a standard product."
