The answers to 20 vital questions, from the best name for the sector to the impact of the Charities Act and the delivery of public services, are being sought from readers in Third Sector's State of the Third Sector 2007 Survey, conducted with NfpSynergy.

The Drinkaware Trust, a charity being launched by the Government as part of its alcohol harm reduction strategy, has appointed 10 trustees. They include Srabani Sen, chief executive of Alcohol Concern.

The Charity Commission
, the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator and the Department for Social Development in Northern Ireland have jointly published a leaflet called Charity Doorstep Collections - Making An Informed Choice. It gives advice on distinguishing between charity and commercial collections.

The UK's 55 community foundations
are on track to reach their target of raising £250m by 2010. Figures revealed by the Community Foundation Network last week showed that donations to community foundations have risen by 20 per cent each year since 2004. The network says this figure is well above the average increase in donations to other types of organisation.
