The changes are a response to a consultation that found readers appreciated the magazine but wanted sharper comment, more about people and a complete summary of the week's news from the website.
From 14 October, Third Sector will be sent to readers by second-class post, so some will receive it on Thursday rather than Wednesday.
The research suggested that increasing online use, with more than 20,000 people receiving the daily email bulletin, had made the timing of the magazine less crucial.
The move will allow more rapid development of the website while keeping the magazine at the heart of the Third Sector brand. A new email bulletin on governance will be launched this week.
