Oxfam launches a corporate fund

Oxfam has launched a new corporate donor fund dedicated to supporting the charity's emergency response to humanitarian disasters.

The Oxfam 365 Alliance aims to raise £7.9m a year. Its corporate members must commit to giving between £500,000 and £1m over a period of three years.

Announcing the initiative, which has already recruited Aviva and Vodafone, Barbara Stocking, director of Oxfam, said: "This represents a pioneering new approach to corporate collaboration that enables us to be prepared when disasters strike. It's the first time we have had such a strategic involvement with corporate donors."

The fund's annual spend will include £6.5m for immediate disaster response.

The remainder will be set aside for a 90-strong global rapid response team of water engineers and experts in logistics, public health and nutrition, and the operation of Oxfam's emergencies warehouse.
