Plunkett Foundation and Community Retailing Network seal trustee deal

Foundation and CRN will appoint trustees to each other's boards in drive for closer working relationship

The Plunkett Foundation, a charity supporting social enterprises in rural communities in England, and the Community Retailing Network, its Scottish equivalent, have agreed to each appoint trustees to the other's board as part of an effort to work more closely together.

The Plunkett Foundation will nominate two trustees to the CRN board, and the CRN will appoint one trustee to the foundation.

A spokesman for the Plunkett Foundation said: "We do similar work to the CRN, and we wanted to encourage closer links. This is a good way of going about it.

"We don't expect to go any further, and there are no plans for a merger.

"The first appointment hasn't happened yet, but we expect the appointment to our board to go ahead in July."
