Politics news in brief

Ruth Kelly, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, has promised to report on her department's record on full cost recovery.

She made the pledge after Greg Clark, the shadow charities minister, asked whether the Department of Communities and Local Government was paying voluntary organisations the full cost of the services they are providing on its behalf.

Labour MP Colin Challen has tabled an early day motion in support of Christian Aid's Cut the Carbon campaign. The charity wants UK companies to detail their carbon footprints in their annual reports.
