Stop Climate Chaos has organised a rally in London on 4 November to urge Tony Blair to make the fight against climate change his legacy as Prime Minister.
The protest, part of the I Count campaign, has been timed to pre-date climate change talks in Nairobi on 6 November and the Queen's speech to Parliament on 15 November. Thousands of protesters are expected to take part in the march, which will culminate in a rally in Trafalgar Square.
The march was organised after a survey published by Stop Climate Chaos showed that only 4 per cent of people think Tony Blair has made effective progress on climate change. A total of 40 per cent said the issue would affect their vote.
"This is an opportunity for people to tell the Government that urgent action is needed to stop climate change," said Ashok Sinha, director of Stop Climate Chaos. The I Count campaign calls on the Government to introduce a Climate Bill that would reduce UK emissions by 3 per cent a year to ensure that global warming is in decline by 2015.
