Politics news: Monkey business

Jeremy Corbyn, Labour MP for Islington North, pictured here with Jan Creamer, chief executive of Animal Defenders International, delivered ADI's latest report to 10 Downing Street on International Primate Day earlier this month.

Corbyn has submitted a written question to Tony Blair about the report, which presents alternatives to the use of primates in scientific testing - the Prime Minister is due to reply this week.

Colin Challen, Labour MP for Morley and Rothwell, has also tabled an early day motion in support of the ADI campaign, which reports that the UK is now the biggest user of monkeys in laboratory tests in Europe. Motions have also been placed before the European Parliament and the US House of Representatives.
