Poppy Walk to become annual event

The Royal British Legion plans to make its Poppy Walk an annual fundraising event after Sunday's 10-mile stroll through London raised £20,000.

Nearly 200 people took part in the walk, which was being revived for the first time in three years. The previous event, staged in 2003, generated £10,000. The walk went past many of the capital's most famous sites, and participants were rewarded with a bottle of wine each at the finish line. The cash raised by the event will be used to pay for services that help current and ex-servicemen and women.
