Power to Change offering a further £2.5m of grant funding

Its Community Business Fund will make 15 grants of between £50,000 and £300,000 to businesses that operate for the benefit of local communities

The community business support charity Power to Change is to offer a further £2.5m of grant funding to help community businesses become more sustainable.

The trust’s Community Business Fund, which has given out grants in five previous rounds worth £16.3m to 95 community business in England, will make 15 grants of between £50,000 and £300,000 to businesses that operate for the benefit of and are accountable to their local communities.

The scheme has so far supported schemes including libraries, farms and cinemas.

The fund will reopen to applications on 11 September and close at midday on 9 October.

Successful applications will receive their grants at the beginning of 2019.

Colette Harvey, programme manager at Power to Change, said: "Community businesses are doing exceptional work at delivering more cohesive local communities and a stronger civil society. We look forward to receiving a broad range of applications from a wide variety of places and sectors."
