Prince's Trust and the Met sign pact

The Metropolitan Police has signed an agreement with the Prince's Trust that is designed to reduce crime by getting more young people's lives back on track.

The Memorandum of Understanding builds on the two organisations' history of working together.

It is hoped that it will encourage more Met Police staff to give their time to help young people on the Prince's Trust's 'Team' programme, which targets young offenders, those in care and underachievers at school.

The partnership also aims to forge closer links between the trust's xl clubs, a personal development programme for school pupils, and the Met's Safer Schools Partnerships.

Martina Milburn, chief executive of the Prince's Trust, said: "This will cement our relationship and get more young people into work, training and education."
