Pump Aid picked to partner Live Earth campaign

Water and sanitation charity hopes to raise £3.5m from link-up with global event in 18 April next year

Pump Aid has been chosen as the official UK charity partner for next year's Live Earth event. The water and sanitation charity hopes to raise more than £3.5m through the partnership.

Live Earth will take place on 18 April next year. There will be music concerts and fundraising events such as a series of 6km runs that will take place in 40 cities, including London, Manchester, New York, Hong Kong and Melbourne. It has different charity partners in each country.

Kathryn Llewellyn, international director of Pump Aid, said: "We're so excited to be involved in such an ambitious event. The potential is massive."

Live Earth was founded by concert producer Kevin Wall and former US vice president Al Gore. Wall also oversaw Live Aid and Live 8.
