Ramblers Scotland faces closure after £300,000 budget cut

Ramblers has slashed the budget of its Scotland arm

Ramblers has proposed to cut the budget of its Scottish division by £300,000 and make all seven of its staff redundant.

The walking charity's head office has told Ramblers Scotland that its office in Milnathort, Kinross, faces closure.

Under the proposal, the Scotland branch would be left with £81,000 for the next financial year, beginning on 1 October. Two new positions would be created employing staff who would work from home on lower salaries.

A spokesman for Ramblers Scotland said it was in consultation to avoid redundancies and that it was considering launching a public appeal for funds.
