A trustee-matching service has been made free for small and medium-sized charities.
Charities with annual incomes of less than £1m previously had to pay £75 per advertisement to register for the TrusteeWorks matching service, which is run by the volunteering charity Reach.
The service operates by placing charity trustee vacancies on a register of available opportunities. Reach’s recruitment teams then search its register of volunteers, assess the candidates and forward suitable names to the relevant charity.
Since it was launched in October 2009, TrusteeWorks has helped to place almost 750 trustees in UK charities.
In a statement, Reach said that making the service free of charge to small charities would help them to strengthen their boards. "Strong boards, with a sufficient breadth of experience and skills, are crucial for charities facing difficult decisions in an uncertain economic climate," the statement said.
