Tell me about Execucare and the work you do

Founded in 1990, Execucare specialises in recruiting outstanding talent for the not-for-profit sector. We work in partnership with leading charities, universities, schools, and arts, cultural and heritage organisations, recruiting at all levels.

What are the biggest challenges your clients come up against when recruiting?

As the philanthropic sector is growing so rapidly, there is a high demand for experienced candidates. Therefore, our clients are increasingly looking at attracting candidates with transferable skill sets from other sectors.

For this reason, Execucare is in the process of developing training programmes and fast-track transition courses for individuals who work in the commercial world and want to move into a professional fundraising career.

Salaries are another major stumbling block in recruiting staff. Budgets in the sector can be tight and therefore it is difficult to attract candidates who are progressing in their careers, and candidates from outside the sector.

How do you help your clients overcome those challenges?

Being the longest established search firm in this sector, we have amassed 28 years of intelligence and have deep-rooted networks. We advise our clients honestly to optimise their chances of securing the best people.

We know what the market wants, and we work closely with our clients to produce high-quality marketing materials, which portray a strong sense of each organisation's unique culture and set of values.

We also encourage our clients to be as flexible and as creative as they can in offering competitive remuneration packages, such as flexible working options and generous annual leave.

Our training programmes are gaining momentum and we will soon be generating a strong pipeline of new talent into the sector, as well as creating a comprehensive mentoring network to support these individuals in their new careers.
