Comic Relief has announced that Red Nose Day will be run in the US next year.
The charity said in a statement that it would put on a three-hour long US Red Nose Day live programme on the US network NBC in May 2015.
Comic Relief said the show would raise money for "established charities working both in the United States and around the world".
Richard Curtis, who created Comic Relief in 1985, will act as an executive producer on the US show. He said he had dreamt for many years about taking Red Nose Day to the US.
"Experience has taught me how extraordinarily compassionate and generous Americans can be, and I’ve lived my life in awe of American comedy talent," he said. "So putting those two things together will, I hope, create an amazing event that will really make a massive difference to the lives of millions of children and their families in the US and in the poorest countries around the world."
