ActionAid has revamped its supporter magazine in a bid to make it more accessible to readers.

The new publication, called Action, replaces the old magazine, called Common Cause, and will launch in June. It will continue to be published three times a year, and there will be an online version from October.

The title will have a glossier look and is designed to appeal to a younger generation of supporters, according to an ActionAid spokeswoman.

She said the magazine would not make any revenue from advertising but would cost the same to produce as the previous publication – about £5,000 per issue. The charity was able to fund the £6,000 redesign by cancelling the June issue of Common Cause. Other cost-cutting measures included reducing the size from A4 Oversize to A4.

Stephanie Ross, editorial manager at ActionAid, said: "It has been five years since we last revised the look and content of our magazine. We hope we have created a magazine that appeals not just to our own supporters, but to anyone with an interest in development and the world around them."
