Robins name local hospice as charity of the year

Swindon Town Football Club has named a local hospice as its charity of the year.

Prospect Hospice, which has been based in nearby Wroughton for 25 years, will receive advertising slots with the club, which will also help its fundraising efforts.

A club ambassador will visit the hospice during the forthcoming football season, and the hospice’s name will be featured on the club’s stationery and website.

The hospice said it was benefiting from a new approach to fundraising from Swindon Town, which is nicknamed 'the Robins'.

Swindon Town is delighted to announce our link-up with Prospect Hospice for the 2008/09 season, said Nick Watkins, the club’s chief executive. After having taken a conducted tour of the hospice, I was highly impressed. It really is a first-class operation.
