Russell Crowe gives to the poor during Robin Hood filming

Actor makes large cash donation to Cancer Research UK shop

Volunteers at a Cancer Research UK shop in Berkshire got a pleasant surprise when Hollywood actor Russell Crowe walked in and donated £1,000 cash to the charity.

Crowe made the donation at the charity's shop in Sunningdale. He was in the area filming for an upcoming film in which he will play Robin Hood.

A Cancer Research UK spokeswoman said: "He went to a bank, took out £1,000 and handed it straight to the volunteers.

"He said he decided to donate after seeing the poster in the window, which features the new Bad Day campaign, in which cancer patients talk about their experiences."
