Early indications show that Christmas card sales could be back on track this year, reversing a dip in sales after the 11 September attacks last year and subsequent fears of recession.
The charity Christmas Card Council, which produces and sells a range of cards through catalogues, has reported one of its most successful summers in recent years.
Advance orders are up 15 per cent on last year, catalogue requests are up by 20 per cent, and requests for samples up by half.
William Ruffman, managing director of charitycards.co.uk, is equally positive and said that by this time last year he had received only 20 corporate enquires.
This year, he has received 400 enquiries, but he points out that the improved web site could account for some of the interest.
