Schoolgirl director adds youth to trust

A 14-year-old schoolgirl from East Sussex has become the youngest director of a UK-based Community Trust, after being elected to the board of directors of the Hailsham Trust, which delivers regeneration programmes.

Emma Taylor has an equal vote on all issues and continues as chair of the Hailsham Youth Council, set up by the trust last year. She said: "When I attended my first meeting everyone was really nice and paused to explain things to me."

She will receive further support and training from Andy Joyes, the trust's youth co-ordinator.
