SCVO appeals for £20m to aid public services delivery

The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) has called for a £20 million social economy development fund to find new ways of delivering public services through the voluntary sector.

The request for a Scottish version of the Treasury's £125 million futurebuilders fund to encourage voluntary sector public service provision in England is written into SCVO's manifesto for the Scottish Parliament, which will be published this Friday.

"Local government, government agencies and others will find proven flexibility and benefits in working with voluntary organisations to deliver their responsibilities," states the manifesto.

The manifesto is SCVO's attempt to influence the political parties in the run up to next May's Scottish Parliament elections.
