Searching for the right partner? The NCVO can help

Umbrella body uses its Fundraising Central website to set up a match-making agency for charities wanting to collaborate

Funding Central, the NCVO-run website that lists funding opportunities for charities, has started a matchmaking service designed to help third sector organisations find partners so they can jointly bid for grants or contracts.

The umbrella body has set up a new section on the site, called Find a Partner, which allows organisations to search for like-minded charities so they can make joint bids for government grants or contracts listed on the website.

It also enables users to provide information about their activities and experiences of applying for funding.

"With more and more organisations wanting to collaborate, this will help users find those who want to work together on a project or who are looking to put in joint bids for funding and contract opportunities," said Graham Collins, sustainable funding programme manager at the NCVO.

Funding Central was launched in June this year and, after initial accessibility problems, has more than 7,700 registered users.

It has also faced the criticism that some of the funding opportunities it lists were of limited interest to charities, although the NCVO has said it would be wrong to decide what grants and contracts organisations can apply for.
